About PerKal

PerKal was founded in Feb 2003 as a partnership and officially registered as a CC is 2004

Perkal was started by Eli PERpinyal and Philip KALinko by chance. There was a family friend whose husband was an importer of goods. He had a large stock holding and when he suddenly passed away, his wife was left with all this stock. Not knowing how to sell this stock, she asked for assistance. Eli and Philip decided to try and help move the stock and so they went door to door with samples to clients. They managed to sell the stock and decided to continue sourcing products to sell to their newly founded customers. Their vision became ensuring that they could provide top quality products at the lowest prices in the country.

 "We saw that there was a huge gap in the South African Gifts market - After conducting some market research we saw how these large suppliers with huge overheads were putting around 150% markup on their goods. We visualized cutting out the middle-man, whilst keeping costs down, without sacrificing customer service. With this vision in mind PerKal was formed."

Our website is effective our online catalogue, with over 70000 products it is impossible to capture our entire range in a single catalogue. Although we do release catalogues for a approximately 5000 of our products every year, we encourage our customers to utilize our website to be able to see all the products offered. We have made many improvements to the website to allow customers to find what they are looking for quickly. Our advanced search tool allows customers to put in restrictions (Price, exclude words, category) to allow you to sift through all our products quickly and efficiently. Results can be sorted by product name, price, date added or popularity making the time spend searching for products greatly reduced.
